New Study Shows That The Nintendo Wii Provides More Than Just Entertainment
When the Nintento Wii was launched, skeptics were abound. They did not believe that it was possible for a game system to be able to inspire normally sedentary gamers to get up, move and improve their health profiles. A study conducted by the National Institute of Health and Nutrition in Tokyo shows that Nintendo Wii users have proven the naysayers wrong. In fact, researchers were able to prove that gamers were able to get a moderately intense workout just by playing interactive titles on the Nintendo Wii.
A few other less vigorously conducted studies have shown that children are more likely to respond to interactive game titles than other healthy initiates, however, dieticians continue to worry about what gamers are doing after they turn off the consoles. Since most people have their gaming consoles setup only feet away from the kitchen, they might be tempted to indulged in unhealthy snacks. Of course, anyone that is embarking on a journey towards physical fitness can be lead astray by temptations. The Nintendo Wii can’t solve all of these problems, but it is giving assistance to those that had given up on exercise altogether.
Nintendo will likely take advantage of the positive press by releasing even more game titles geared towards fitness gurus. So far, there are controllers, mats and other peripherals that are designed to encourage movement, but Nintendo is working on developing even more accessories that will help gamers to increase the intensity of their workouts. Microsoft might be right on Nintendo’s heels, but the originator has science to back up its claims.
